A magical night at Reale Arena!

The parade of delegations, performances by Jakes Txapartegi and Leire Martínez, and a spectacular fireworks display marked the official opening of Donosti Cup 2025

9 de July de 2025

While the competition began on the various fields in the morning, the evening celebration was held in a grand ceremony befitting this major international event. Reale Arena was filled with emotion, color, and music, with 20,000 fans cheering from the stands.

Music served as the common language that united the 30 nationalities present. The interpretation of Aita Donostia by Jakes Txapartegi, a young pianist from Hondarribia, moved the stadium and marked the start of the ceremony.

The parade was opened by the Palestinian flag, a regular participant in the tournament but absent this year. Thousands of kilometers from Palestine, Donosti Cup keeps them close in spirit and paid an emotional tribute under the song Imagine by John Lennon.

One by one, all the clubs paraded across the pitch. The South African players surprised everyone with their energy as they passed through the center; the American delegations made their enthusiasm felt, and to close the parade, the local teams received a warm ovation from all attendees. For the first time, countries like Taiwan, Tanzania, and the Dominican Republic marched in Reale Arena, joining the tournament’s extensive international map.

The field proved too small to hold all the dancers from Bamboo Academy, who raised the audience’s heartbeat to the rhythm of Born With a Broken Heart by Italian Damiano David.

Then came the most anticipated moment of the night. For the first time, Leire Martínez performed in Donostia, her hometown. Visibly emotional, she dedicated words of thanks to all attendees and participants, delivering an unforgettable finale. The stadium lit up with kites in the sky and a spectacular fireworks display.

A finale that left no one indifferent and marked, in the most special way, the official start of Donosti Cup 2025.
