Application period for the “Donosti Cup Munduan” Grants concludes
19 projects from 12 countries compete for a place at Donosti Cup 2026 thanks to these scholarships
The application period for the second edition of the “Donosti Cup Munduan” Grants has concluded, after receiving a total of 19 applications from Spain, Costa Rica, Uruguay, the United States, Kenya, Uganda, Palestine, Malaysia, Paraguay, Colombia, Venezuela, and Angola.
These scholarships are aimed at organizations that use football as a tool for social transformation, promoting education, equality, and inclusion through sport. Each year, two projects are selected — one male and one female — whose teams will participate in the Donosti Cup with all expenses covered by the Donosti Cup Foundation.
The jury is now reviewing the applications to select the two winning projects. The names of the selected teams will be announced on November 30, at which point they will confirm their participation in the international youth football tournament held every summer in San Sebastián.
The organizers express their sincere gratitude to all the applications received, highlighting especially the beautiful and valuable projects carried out by the participants. They emphasize that this work is the most important aspect and what gives meaning to these scholarships.
The Donosti Cup has been supporting teams from Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America for over 30 years, giving thousands of young players the opportunity to play football alongside teammates from different cultures and nationalities. Its work has been recognized with distinctions such as the UNICEF National Award and the Iberdrola SuperA Award.
In the first edition of the scholarships, the selected projects were Hold My Hand Charity (Ethiopia) and Future Stars Academy (Tanzania), both examples of how sport can combine education, leadership, inclusion, and gender equity.
