Mongolia to make its Donosti Cup debut with the historic participation of Bishrelt FC Khormkhon
The club from Ulaanbaatar becomes the first ever from the country to compete in the tournament
The Donosti Cup will continue to expand its global football map this summer with a historic debut. Bichrelt FC Khormkhon will become the first club from Mongolia to take part in the tournament, competing in San Sebastián with two boys’ teams, in the B11 and B12 categories. To reach Donostia, the delegation will travel more than 8,000 kilometres, a journey that further highlights the significance of their participation.
Based in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, Bichrelt FC Khormkhon stands out for its strong commitment to youth football development, focusing on the sporting and personal education of young players in a country where football has been steadily growing in recent decades. In a sporting culture traditionally dominated by disciplines such as Mongolian wrestling, archery and horse riding, football has emerged as an increasingly popular sport among younger generations.
Mongolia, the largest landlocked country in the world, has a young population and a growing interest in international sport. In recent years, the national federation and local clubs have strengthened grassroots programmes and increased their presence in international tournaments, seeking experiences that accelerate both the competitive and cultural development of their players.
