Sporting Clube de Portugal will participate in Donosti Cup 2026
The historic Portuguese club will compete with girls' teams in the G10, G12 and G14 categories in its fifth participation in the tournament.
Sporting Clube de Portugal will once again take part in the Donosti Cup in 2026 with three girls’ teams, reaffirming the strong connection between the historic Lisbon club and the tournament. The Portuguese club was one of the pioneers that took part in the first girls’ category of the tournament back in 1994. That first edition paved the way for the consolidation of the girls’ competition within the Donosti Cup, with Sporting as one of its key protagonists.
Over the years, the club has maintained its close relationship with the tournament. It returned to celebrate the 30th anniversary of girls’ participation and also took part in the 2025 edition, where it delivered an outstanding performance by winning the G10 and G12 categories.
Now, in 2026, Sporting will face its fifth participation with renewed enthusiasm and the ambition of fighting for the titles once again.
The club’s strong sporting moment is also reflected in its senior teams. The women’s first team is currently in second place in the Liga BPI, behind SL Benfica, which will also participate in the tournament. A similar situation can be seen in the men’s team, who are also second in the Portuguese league behind FC Porto in what is proving to be a very competitive season for the Lisbon club.
