Donosti Cup 2026 is officially underway. The Plenary Hall of San Sebastián City Hall hosted the official presentation of the tournament’s 34th edition this Tuesday. Once again, Gipuzkoa will become the meeting point for international grassroots football from July 6 to 12.

This year’s edition will once again break records by bringing together 910 teams from 32 countries, making it the most international edition in the tournament’s history. Countries such as Angola, Hong Kong, Estonia, Mongolia, Malaysia, Poland, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay will make their debut, bringing the total number of participating countries since the creation of the Donosti Cup in 1992 to 90.

During the event, the sporting, social, and economic impact that the tournament generates in Gipuzkoa every summer was highlighted. Two panel discussions addressed topics such as grassroots football, tourism, equality, sustainability, and solidarity. Participants included representatives from Basque institutions, sponsors, and partner organizations, as well as special guests such as the Angolan NGO Live Active, which will take part in this year’s tournament thanks to the Donosti Cup Foundation.

Among the main new features of this edition are the celebration of the Donosti Cup Txiki, the Donosti Cup Women’s Day, the introduction of the Vicky López Award for the tournament’s most outstanding player, and a new edition of the Donosti Authentics Cup, which will continue promoting a more inclusive sport.

The opening ceremony will also be one of the major novelties this year. Due to the expansion works at Anoeta Stadium, the event will be moved to the Amenabar Arena, where it will be held in two separate sessions for the first time, allowing organizers to welcome more than 15,000 participants in a format adapted to the tournament’s growth.

The tournament will also continue strengthening its commitment to sustainability through new environmental initiatives and will once again support solidarity projects such as Donosti Cup Gaza and the participation of teams invited by the Donosti Cup Foundation.

With more than 15,000 players, 2,254 matches, and 60 playing fields across Gipuzkoa, Navarre, Biscay, and the French Basque Country, the countdown to Donosti Cup 2026 has officially begun—an edition that will once again bring together sport, coexistence, and values in an unforgettable experience.
