The 33rd edition of the Donosti Cup officially presented
Records, anniversary, and emotion at the Official Presentation of Donosti Cup 2025
Yesterday, the Orona Foundation Auditorium hosted the official presentation of the tournament, which is set to be the most international in its history, with 900 teams from 30 countries and over 15,000 participants.
The presentation included three roundtable discussions focusing on key themes such as equality and solidarity, sustainable tourism, and inclusion in sport. Speakers included institutional representatives like Eneko Goia, Azahara Domínguez, Goizane Álvarez, and Daniel Solana, alongside sponsors and figures from the social and sporting sectors such as Ane Mínguez, a player from Real Sociedad Genuine, and Javier Colomo, founder of the NGO Amigos Solidarios. All expressed their pride and gratitude for being part of something that goes far beyond a simple sporting competition.
One of the most moving moments of the presentation was the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the Donosti Authentics Cup — the tournament’s inclusive version, which this year will feature 10 teams from Mexico, Catalonia, the Basque Country, and France. Young Donostia-born singer Simón Ezquiaga opened the event with a heartfelt performance of his song “Diversidad relativa,” which deeply touched the audience. Among the guests were players from the Authentics Cup teams Real Sociedad Fundazioa, Atzehi, and Mindara, who truly became the stars of the day.
The presentation also revealed some impressive figures for this edition: a record 200 girls' teams with over 4,000 female players, and the debut of Tanzania, Taiwan, and the Dominican Republic, bringing the total number of participating countries in the tournament’s history to 86.
With its unique blend of sport, values, and cultural exchange, the countdown to an unforgettable Donosti Cup 2025 has officially begun.
