Two female teams and one male team will represent the historic Portuguese club in San Sebastián
Sport Lisboa e Benfica, one of the most prestigious clubs in Europe, returns to the Donosti Cup 2026 with two female teams and one male team. The presence of the Lisbon club in the tournament reaffirms its commitment to youth football and will undoubtedly make it one of the clubs to watch.
Founded in 1904, Benfica is the most decorated team in Portugal, with 80 national titles, including 38 league championships and 26 Portuguese Cups. Internationally, it has won two European Cups and played in ten continental finals, consolidating its prestige in European football. Currently, the men’s team sits third in the Portuguese league and is qualified for the Champions League, where it faces Real Madrid tonight, while the women’s team leads the Portuguese women’s league with a significant gap over the second-placed team.
Benfica has a long history in the Donosti Cup. It was a pioneer in the women’s competition, participating in the first edition of this category in 1994, and in recent years it has excelled in the tournament’s final stages: in the last edition, it lifted the G14 championship trophy, and in 2023 it won two titles. For the 2026 edition, the club will be represented in the B11, G12, and G14 categories.
Bem-vindo, Benfica!
