Historic BVC Bloemendaal to take part in Donosti Cup 2026

The Donosti Cup will celebrate its 34th edition with the participation of historic BVC Bloemendaal, one of the most emblematic amateur clubs in the Netherlands. The Dutch side will compete in the Under-18 boys’ category and will become the second club from their country to take part in the tournament, following the participation of KVC Oranje.

Founded in 1902, BVC Bloemendaal has more than 120 years of history and a strong connection with its local community. Known for its commitment to holistic development, the club goes beyond the sporting field and defines itself as a modern and welcoming community where friendship, respect and personal growth play a central role.

This philosophy is also reflected in social initiatives promoted by its own players. A recent example was the action led by Ben Willemsen and Sven Blok, who sought to counter the negative image that young asylum seekers in Aerdenhout were receiving in the media. They visited the reception centre to invite them to an afternoon of football and collected boots, shirts and shin guards for those who lacked equipment. The activity was also attended by coach Baidy, who arrived in the Netherlands as a young refugee in 1999 and found both a sporting and personal home at the club.

Located in a privileged setting next to Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, the club has built its identity around values such as local talent development, teamwork, inclusion and the balance between competition and enjoyment of the game. Its development programme prioritises player well-being and promotes a safe, educational and future-oriented environment.

With its participation, Donosti Cup 2026 welcomes a historic organisation that represents the values of European grassroots football and reinforces the international and educational character of the tournament.
