The Dominican Republic will be represented for the first time at the Donosti Cup
The Caribbean team Spatech Rising Stars will make their debut in the tournament, becoming the first Dominican club in the competition’s history.
This summer, the Donosti Cup will witness a historic moment with the participation of Spatech Rising Stars, the first team from the Dominican Republic to compete in the tournament’s 33-year history.
Spatech is an international development program driven by Spado Soccer Academy, founded in 2023 with the aim of training footballers with a global understanding of the game and a holistic approach to both sport and personal growth. The mixed team stands out for its commitment to diversity and the development of young talents from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
Their presence at the Donosti Cup 2025 will also mark their first participation in an international tournament — a significant milestone for both the academy and the growth of grassroots football in the Caribbean region. Through this experience, Spatech aims to proudly represent the Dominican Republic and pave the way for new generations of footballers from the country.
This participation comes at a key moment for Dominican football, which is currently experiencing unprecedented growth. In recent years, the U-20 men’s national team qualified for a FIFA World Cup (Indonesia 2023) and for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for the first time. These achievements, along with the rise of women’s football and the expansion of academies with international reach, are positioning the Dominican Republic as an emerging hub in the world of youth football.
Spatech won’t just bring their football to San Sebastián; they’ll also bring the hopes of a nation beginning to make its voice heard on the international stage.
