All teams make their tournament debut today ahead of the Opening Ceremony
Following the 98 matches played yesterday between teams from Gipuzkoa, all participating teams will make their tournament debut today in a key day that will conclude with the Opening Ceremony at Amenabar Arena (Illunbe).
The Donosti Cup moves fully into competition today with the remaining 363 matches of the opening matchday, in a busy schedule that will see every team in the tournament take to the field for the first time.
On Monday, 98 matches between Gipuzkoa-based teams were played in advance. This measure will allow today's schedule to finish earlier so that players, coaches and families can attend the Opening Ceremony, which this year will exceptionally be held at Amenabar Arena (Illunbe) in two separate sessions.
The first points of the tournament could prove decisive. The group stage will determine the path to the knockout rounds, as each team's final position will define its matchups and chances of progressing to the final stages of the competition.
The Donosti Cup will once again highlight the values of sport through its Fair Play Award, part of the "Play, Respect, Celebrate" programme, which recognises exemplary behaviour from players, coaches and supporters throughout the tournament. New this year is the Circle of Trust, developed in collaboration with Fútbol Más. This symbolic initiative brings both teams together before kick-off to promote respect, inclusion and fair play from the very first minute.
In addition, nearly 500 matches will be streamed live throughout the tournament via DonostiCupPlay.com and the SolidSport app. Access is available for €3 per match or €9 for a tournament pass covering all broadcasts.
As another new feature, these matches will be available free of charge over the coming days on CHUTapp, the grassroots football social network, allowing players, families and fans from around the world to follow the tournament live and relive its best moments.
