Donosti Cup closes applications for Munduan Scholarships with 19 submissions from 15 countries
The third edition of the scholarships will fund the participation of two social projects, one boys’ team and one girls’ team, in the Donosti Cup 2027.
The Donosti Cup Foundation closed the application period for the third edition of the “Donosti Cup Munduan” Scholarships on 1 November. This initiative will enable two non-profit organisations to take part fully funded in the 35th edition of the tournament, which will be held from 5 to 11 July 2027 in San Sebastián and Gipuzkoa.
A total of 19 applications have been received from 15 countries: Angola, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Ethiopia, France, Haiti, Kenya, Mexico, Mongolia, Palestine, Paraguay and South Africa.
The scholarships are aimed at NGOs, sports clubs and associations that run educational and social inclusion projects through football in vulnerable communities or communities at risk of social exclusion. The grant covers all costs associated with participation in the tournament, including registration, international travel, accommodation for up to seven nights, meals and local transport.
Following the closure of the application period, a jury appointed by the organisation will assess the submitted projects based on their social impact, the profile of the beneficiaries, and the technical and administrative feasibility of their participation in the tournament.
In the 2026 edition, the selected organisations were Live Active, from Angola, in the boys’ category, and Beyond the Goal, from Kenya, in the girls’ category. In the first edition, the scholarships were awarded to Hold My Hand, from Ethiopia, and Future Stars Academy, from Tanzania.
The organisation will announce the two selected projects for the 2027 edition before 30 November. The beneficiary organisations will then need to begin the necessary arrangements to travel to San Sebastián and take part in a week of football, community spirit and cultural exchange alongside thousands of young people from all over the world.
