Yesterday, on Wednesday, November 25, the SuperA awards ceremony was held at Iberdrola's headquarters in Madrid, which recognized the best initiatives launched in Spain in favor of gender equality and the empowerment of women through sport. For this first edition, 406 applications were presented, of which the 6 winning projects have come out.

The Donosti Cup was chosen as one of the 12 finalists, although in the end it had the 2nd place in the Dissemination category. In the words of Iñigo Olaizola, director of the tournament, “we would have been very excited if we had won, especially because it coincided with the 25th anniversary of the launch of girl's football in the Donosti Cup, but we could not achieve it. The second place among more than 400 candidacies is something to be proud of and we will continue working in favor of girl's football with even more enthusiasm if possible. We want to thank all the words of support that we have received over recent weeks and it has been the best of having participated in this call ”.

Those in charge of delivering the awards were Ignacio Galán, president of Iberdrola, Irene Lozano, president of the CSD; Alejandro Blanco, president of the COE; Miguel Carballeda, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee; Marta Arce, Paralympic Yudo medalist; Amanda Sampedro, football player, and Carolina Marín, Olympic badminton medalist.

During the 25 years in which the Donosti Cup has been promoting girl's football, more than 1,200 girl's teams and nearly 25,000 players have already participated in the tournament. The highest participation figure was in 2019 when 134 teams took part in the tournament. The goal for the year 2022 is to reach the figure of 200 girl's teams, which would be a landmark in a football tournament in Spain.

The Donosti Cup wants to congratulate the winners of the different categories.
