Donosti Cup shines at the first LALIGA U12 World Cup
Fifteen players with a Donosti Cup background stand out in a talent-filled international competition.
The first LALIGA U12 World Cup featured a strong presence of players who have previously participated in the Donosti Cup, confirming the tournament’s level and international projection.
Real Betis were crowned champions of this first edition, with Dino Hodovic in their squad, a player who took part in the latest Donosti Cup. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona secured third place with a generation that included standout players such as Destiny Kosiso, top scorer of the U12 World Cup and Donosti Cup champion, and Pedro Juárez, Barcelona’s captain, who was the youngest player in the tournament three years ago. Alongside them, other notable names included Marc Ribera, Arnau Casas, Biel Chaves and Joel Cabanes.
Real Madrid, who reached the quarter-finals, also featured Donosti Cup representation through Ignacio Aguilar.
This first U12 World Cup brought together teams from all over the world, including Inter Miami, which had a strong presence of players linked to the tournament: Paul Ritter, Bastian Lucas, André del Río, Julián Yema, Giandaniele Ioro, Juan Martín Uribe and Kingston Stovall.
All of them have previously participated in the Donosti Cup, representing academies such as Elite Futbol Experience, Set11 Sport, Brain Football or Academia IFF Pro, among others.
The Donosti Cup continues to establish itself as a stage where future football stars emerge. The latest example is Thiago Pitarch, a former finalist who has recently broken into the Real Madrid first team, earning several consecutive starts.
Will some of these young players follow the same path? Time will tell.
Congratulations to all participants for the high level shown.
