Dani Rodríguez makes his debut with FC Barcelona’s first team
The young Basque winger, runner-up of the 2018 Donosti Cup, fulfills his dream of debuting in LaLiga
The Donosti Cup family has yet another reason to feel proud. Dani Rodríguez, former Antiguoko KE player and participant in several editions of the tournament, made his debut this Saturday with FC Barcelona’s first team in the LaLiga match against Real Valladolid, held at the Estadio José Zorrilla.
At just 19 years old, the Basque winger was one of the big surprises in Hansi Flick’s starting eleven, who opted for him after announcing squad rotations. Dani, capable of playing on both wings or even in midfield, showed confidence and left a great impression during his time on the pitch. Although he had to be substituted after an unfortunate action that resulted in a shoulder injury, his debut marks a major milestone in his promising career.
Dani Rodríguez took part in several Donosti Cup editions, and in 2018 he was one of the standout players for Antiguoko KE, who reached the U14 boys' final, ultimately falling to PA Team. A year later, he joined Real Sociedad’s youth academy, and since the 2020-21 season he has been part of FC Barcelona, progressing through Juvenil B, Juvenil A, and Barça Atlètic, until reaching his first official call-up with the senior team.
From the Donosti Cup, we want to congratulate Dani and his inner circle for this major achievement. We’re certain that this debut is just the beginning of a career full of success.
éxitos.
