Women's football will shine once again with its own light in the 2021 Donosti Cup
In this edition, there will be six girls’ categories, two of them new: G10 and G25.
As the health situation stabilizes and the rate of vaccinations increases, more and more teams, especially national ones, are showing interest in participating in the 2021 Donosti Cup.
The registration rate of girls’ clubs is being very positive and in fact clubs with a long tradition in the Donosti Cup such as Madrid CFF, Olympique de Lyon, Benfica, Futfem Talen, WSS, Ath Villafranca, Impressionant or SET 11 among others, have already confirmed their participation.
There are also several USA clubs willing to participate as long as the circumstances make the trip possible. This is the case of Wisconsin International, ISL, Inspire Soccer or Walnut Creek.
On a local level, registrations will be open as usual in May, although the Donosti Cup has already got in touch with Real Sociedad, Eibar, Ath Osasuna, Athletic Club and Alavés to invite them to participate in this next edition.
The Donosti Cup keeps betting on girls’ football and proof of this is that in this edition two new categories will be created. In addition to the traditional categories: G12, G14, G18 and G18; G10 and G25 new ones will be added. Until now, 9 and 10 years old girls’ teams had to play in the B10 category and we consider that it is the moment to create this new category.
On the other hand, as we announced two weeks ago, we also thought it was time to create the G25 category for those players who want to continue enjoying the Donosti Cup for a few years more.
Another change as far as the categories are concerned is that the G16 will become G17, making equal the dates of birth to those applied by the federation of the Basque Country, which cover the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. Before making this small modification, a survey was carried out among the registered clubs and the answer was positive since in several autonomous regions G16 and G18 players play together.
From the Donosti Cup, we encourage all the girls’ teams to live a special experience with teams from other communities and other nationalities.
We are waiting for you!
