Donosti Cup 2027 gets off to a record-breaking start
More than 100 teams from 11 countries have registered in the first 24 hours for the tournament’s 35th edition
The opening of registration for Donosti Cup 2027 could not have got off to a better start. In the first 24 hours, more than 100 teams from 11 countries have already confirmed their participation in the next edition of the tournament, which will take place in San Sebastián from 5 to 11 July and will be a particularly special occasion as the competition celebrates its 35th anniversary.
The figures set a new record for the speed of registration. In 2026, it took two days to reach the first 100 teams, who came from five different countries. This time, Donosti Cup has passed that milestone in just 24 hours, with a much broader international representation.
The first team to officially register was FCM Ingré, from France. Since then, the list has continued to grow, reaching 102 registered teams from the United States, Spain, Chile, Australia, South Africa, Costa Rica, Japan, France, Mexico, Hong Kong and Russia.
As has become customary in recent years, the United States is once again leading the international registrations, with more than 50 teams already confirmed for 2027. Spain is second, with close to 30 teams.
However, interest in the 35th edition goes far beyond the teams that have already completed their registration. The organisation has received enquiries and expressions of interest from clubs in Germany, Andorra, Algeria, Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, South Korea, Greece, Haiti, India, Iceland, Italy, Lebanon, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, the Netherlands, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Uganda, Uruguay and Venezuela, in addition to the countries already represented among the first registrations.
The international landscape for Donosti Cup 2027 is therefore already taking shape with remarkable diversity from the very beginning of the registration period. The organisation expects this trend to continue over the coming weeks, with the aim of once again bringing clubs from all over the world together in San Sebastián.
The 2027 edition will also be a particularly special occasion for Donosti Cup. The tournament will celebrate its 35th anniversary since its first edition and will once again turn San Sebastián and Gipuzkoa into a meeting point for thousands of young footballers, families and clubs from different countries for an entire week.
