Donosti Cup extends its partnership with Wakatake Group
The entity has been promoting the Donosti Cup in Japan for more than 10 years and plans to do so in other Asian countries.
The Donosti Cup has announced the partnership agreement renewal with Wakatake Group, a Japanese company with a strong presence in Spain focused on youth development through sport. This strategic agreement will strengthen the relationship between both organizations, and will consolidate their efforts to promote the Donosti Cup in Asia.
Iñigo Olaizola, Founder and CEO of the Donosti Cup, and Joel Santos, Managing Director of Wakatake Group, have both signed the collaboration agreement in San Sebastian.
The relationship between Donosti Cup and Wakatake Group goes back a decade, starting with the 20th edition of the tournament. Takeshi Inawaka, a former professional player with extensive experience in youth soccer, is CEO and Founder of Wakatake Group and has been a key figure in this collaboration over the years. Takeshi is passionate about the Donosti Cup and does not miss his annual visit to the tournament every summer. Nor does he miss each edition of the Coaches' Match, in which he holds a record that is hard to beat: he has managed to score a goal in each of the 10 games he has played.
Wakatake has multiple soccer academies in Japan, with Osaka and Kanto being the main areas of influence. The international youth development experiences are at the heart of their project. They support players, coaches and soccer academies of all different backgrounds to grow through high-quality international soccer programs. This is achieved through their own international experience training with elite professional clubs, competing in the best international tournaments, traveling around the world and building an international youth soccer ecosystem for over 15 years.
