The Apple Cup 2026 champions will take part in Donosti Cup 2027!

Donosti Cup congratulates SD Baja (San Diego, California) and Villarreal FC (Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico) for being crowned champions of Apple Cup 2026, “The tournament that takes you to Europe.” Thanks to their victory, both teams have earned direct qualification for Donosti Cup 2027, with a prize that includes flights from their home city, tournament entry, as well as accommodation and meals during the competition.

Apple Cup is a youth football tournament held every March in Mexico for teams across different age categories. Now celebrating its 10th edition, it has established itself as a benchmark tournament in the country, offering young players the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

Its director, Diego Mejía, has a close connection with Donosti Cup, having participated in several editions first as a player with Academia Chelona from El Salvador and later as a coach of Real Sociedad Cuauhtémoc. Thanks to this connection, he made it possible for Apple Cup champions to earn participation in Donosti Cup as their prize. Over the years, teams such as Olimpia FC (Honduras) and Independiente Chihuahua (Mexico) have enjoyed this unique experience in San Sebastián.

The 10th edition of Apple Cup featured teams from different nationalities. After an intense weekend of football, SD Baja and Villarreal FC lifted the title and secured their place at Donosti Cup 2027.

As Diego Mejía said after the final, “a new story is about to begin,” and at Donosti Cup we are delighted to be part of it.
