Uruguay will participate in the tournament for the first time with Club Seminario
The Uruguayan side will compete with a B18 team and will become the first representative of the country in the history of the competition.
Over the years, the tournament has featured a strong presence of South American clubs, with teams coming from almost every country on the continent. With the participation of Club Seminario, Uruguay joins this wide regional representation for the first time.
The club making this historic debut will be Club Seminario, a sports, social and cultural institution linked to the Jesuit community in Uruguay. Founded on 13 May 2010, the club was created to bring together the sports teams formed by alumni, fathers and mothers of Colegio Seminario, which until then had competed independently, while also promoting the development of new sporting disciplines.
Today, the club has more than 1,000 members and competes in 22 sports categories, including rugby, hockey, football, handball, basketball and volleyball, as well as a running group. The institution is inspired by Ignatian values, promoting sport as an educational tool for social integration and personal development. In this spirit, the club seeks not only to compete at the highest level but also to promote fair play, fraternity and commitment to the community.
Its crest, inspired by the symbols of the family of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, features the well-known wolves of Loyola, a traditional emblem of hospitality and generosity linked to Jesuit history. As an interesting connection, the Jesuit order was founded by Saint Ignatius of Loyola, who was born in Azpeitia (Gipuzkoa), a town close to San Sebastián that members of Club Seminario may have the opportunity to visit during their stay at the tournament.
With its debut in the competition, Uruguay joins the international map of the tournament, giving the young players of Club Seminario the opportunity to face teams from all over the world and enjoy a unique sporting and cultural experience.
