20 arbitres internationaux de 9 pays et plus de 250 arbitres du Gipuzkoa feront partie du tournoi
The Donosti Cup 2026 will once again bring together a large refereeing team this summer, further strengthening the tournament’s global, educational and professional character. The competition will feature more than 270 referees, including both international and local officials, who will oversee the more than 2,000 matches to be played throughout the week across the different tournament venues.
Alongside the local refereeing team, made up of more than 250 referees from the Comité Guipuzcoano de Árbitros, this edition of the Donosti Cup will welcome 20 international referees from 9 different countries, as well as two international coordinators who will work alongside the organization throughout the competition. They will arrive from Argentina, the Czech Republic, England, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania, the United States and Spain, once again reflecting the international reach of the Donosti Cup within the refereeing field as well. In addition, the group will include two female international referees, reinforcing the tournament’s commitment to increasing female representation in refereeing.
Since the beginning of its collaboration with Referee Abroad, the Donosti Cup has established itself as one of the leading tournaments for young referees with international potential. More than 400 referees from over 30 nationalities have already participated in the tournament in recent years, turning this experience into a true platform for training, exchange and refereeing development.
Most of the participating referees are part of development and talent programs within their respective federations and will combine their work on the pitch with educational and social activities throughout the week. The organization is also working to secure the presence of a UEFA supervisor during the tournament, further enhancing the refereeing level and prestige of the competition.
With this combination of local and international referees, the Donosti Cup continues to establish itself as a unique environment for the exchange of experiences, training and development of young referees from around the world, while maintaining its commitment to quality grassroots football and organizational excellence.
