A team of Palestinian refugees’ girls, first team invited by the Foundation for the next edition

One more year, the Donosti Cup Foundation will invite some teams from developing countries to the tournament, sponsoring most of the expenses. This solidarity initiative began 25 years ago and to date more than 30 teams from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America have already benefited from it.

The first invited team to the 2019 Donosti Cup that we can already announce is a team of girls from the refugee camp of Jenin, located in the north of Palestine. These girls are part of the Women's Organization "Not to Forget Jenin Camp" whose mission is to support the women of the camp, develop their skills to participate in the life of their community, and improve their psychological, social and health conditions. They have a football team and organize educational and leisure activities every week.

Iñigo Olaizola, director of the Donosti Cup, visited the camp in Easter last year, and he had the opportunity to talk and train with the players. The camp has very few attractions and the work done by the Women's organization, led by Farha, is praiseworthy.

This will be the second participation of this team, they also came in 2015 with a girls’ team. On that occasion, they won the love of many teams, especially the one of the Wisconsin International which they made a great relationship with. This year, the expedition will be made of 16 players and 4 managers, all women, and they will participate in the G16 category.

The Donosti Cup gives them a warm welcome and we congratulate them for the magnificent work they do in so difficult circumstances.
